The pub, a grade 2 listed building,stands in the middle of Caldbeck village, which is preserved as a conservation area in the Lake District National Park. It is self contained with it's own garage, post office, and shops .Peppered with rivers, becks and wildlife it's a real picture postcard Lakeland Village, a great place to enjoy the peace and quite of the northern fells.

Cockermouth, a bustling market town and the birthplace of William Wordsworth is only a few miles away, and the capital of the North lakes, Keswick, less than half an hour's drive towards  Bassenthwaite Lake.

This is an ideal spot for the walker & cyclist. The long distance walk, the Cumbrian Way goes past the front door, & the Rievers cycling route is only two miles away. It's a haven for walking, riding, fishing, wildlife. Explore the Lakeland Fells, Solway Coast & plain, plus Hadrians wall & the Pennines

Across the Solway The Keswick area is host to outdoor pursuit centres, a marina, many famous restaurants and even boasts it's own "Theatre by the Lake". We are idealy placed to explore  the beautiful heritage coastline, while Carlisle, Hadrian's Wall, and Scotland  are all within easy reach.
